開南大學屬新興大學，其歷史沿革可追溯百年之久，最早源於1917年創立的「台灣商工」學校。
Kainan University is a relatively young institution, but its history dates back over a century to the founding of the Taiwan Commercial and Technical School in 1917.
開南大學華語中心創立於2005年，最早設立於桃園校本部，2006年分設台北華語中心，由於鄰近台北航空城，交通位置便利，成為外籍學生最佳的華語學習場所。
